Family Intervention
We know facing up to the reality of getting help for the addiction of a loved one is a tough decision and a family intervention might be the solution.
We know facing up to the reality of getting help for the addiction of a loved one is a tough decision. Usually the person with the addiction is either in denial about how bad their addiction is or they are just simply too frightened to deal with the problem. In this case a family intervention might be the solution.
Most of the calls we receive to our private rehab facility are from distraught family members who are watching their loved ones self-destruct and are struggling themselves to cope with the addiction, not knowing what to do, but knowing that something has to be done.
A Familiar Situation?
When we speak to family members we hear how they have tried everything they can think of including:
- Creating a safe environment
- Trying to understand,
- Threats
- Hiding the drugs and/or alcohol
- Stopping providing financial support
- Shouting
- Guilt trips
- Encouraging going to rehab
And yet each one of these methods are unsuccessful.
If this sounds familiar and your loved one is refusing to get help or they say they will but do not do anything about it then a family intervention might be the best option for you.
Our Family Intervention
Over the 20+ years we have been treating addicts, we have developed a highly successful family intervention program. It is a highly structured step-by-step program to give the best possibility of your loved one finally accepting they have a problem and being willing to commit to a residential rehabilitation program, and start their recovery journey.
The family intervention is a carefully planned event undertaken by the family of the addict.
We can meet with you prior to your intervention in our Spring Hill office to advise how best to conduct the intervention. It is often useful to review the intervention checklist first so you can come prepared. The responsibility to conduct the intervention rests with the family.
Free Intervention Checklist
We have created a free intervention checklist on what to do before, during and after an intervention.
The checklist includes:
- What to do before you hold an intervention
- How to organise the intervention
- What to discuss during the intervention
- How to talk during the intervention
- What to do immediately following the intervention
You can download the intervention checklist here.
